Who remembers this gem? Back in 1973, a new library opened in Downtown Arlington Texas at 101 E. Abram Street. While we absolutely love Arlington Public Library's current, state-of-the-art George W. Hawkes Downtown Library, we take a moment to appreciate its predecessor that stood tall for many years across the street as it served countless Arlington residents and beyond. Construction is underway in the small town of Orrville, which has a population around 150 residents, on its very first public library. The library has been in the works for years, with officials first breaking ground on the project in 2023 after Congresswoman Terri Sewell announced a half-million dollars in federal funding for the project. The library is being built right next to its town hall on Highway 22. The Dallas County town is hopeful construction will be finished by March 2026. Currently
